Awor: student nurse
Awor arrived in England as a teenage refugee from Sudan. In this video, she outlines how central learning in further education colleges has been in her life since then. Education is a golden thread through her narrative.
Starting with learning English and then harnessing education to her ambition to become a Nurse, Awor’s determination shines through. We also see evidence of the ripple effect of her commitment to study as this year her daughter graduated from the University of Leicester with a degree in Accounts and Finance.
This interview illustrates how further education can provide a lifeline that also connects individuals to their community and enables them to fulfil their hopes and dreams. Further education leads to employment but it does so much else as well!
