Maria and Debbie are learning support staff. They attend lessons across a range of different courses offering support to learners with a wide range of often complex needs. In an interview with their tutor, Kay, they highlight the vital importance of this role in further education that is vital in terms of social justice but which is sometimes over-looked .
One of the big things for adult learners is that the reason they left education in the first place was due to barriers to learning. The important thing is to get it right the second time round.
Seeing where they are at the beginning and then seeing at the end how much more confident they are. hearintg them say Yes! I’ve done it!
To be part of that – I love it!
